Here is my problem: I CAN’T PICK AN ARMY!
Ever since 6th edition hit, I have been proxying, substituting, listbuilding, mathhammering, and lore-mastering more armies than I care to admit. I will go into this soon, and explain what I see as the “paralysis factor” that the possibility of allies can cause for list-builders. But that’s not this! So read on to see what I’m up to this week.
In today’s episode of Law Reviews we’re continuing our coverage of last weekend’s Battle For Salvation 2012 GT in New York. Today we’re pleased to bring you the army lists of Gold Bracket runner-up Matt DeFranza, Silver Bracket winner (and Nova Open TO) Mike Brandt, and Silver Bracket runner-up Alex Fennel (whom you may remember from our NOVA 2012 review – Alex also scored 2nd place in the NOVA invitational with a similar list). As you’re reading through the lists and our notes, keep in mind a couple of themes – durable scoring units and mobility – that are present in each of these lists. We’ll close this article with comments on why durable scoring units and mobility are key to success in 6th, and hopefully as you’re reading you’ll see why these 3 lists (along with Andrew Gonyo’s winning list from our last episode) are fantastic evidence in support of our argument.
Issue: Can cover saves be taken against the Callidus Assassin’s Polymorphine attack?
Holding: Yes, cover saves may be taken against wounds caused by the Polymorphine attack, but only cover which does not depend on the position of the firer applies.
ISSUE: Can a Hive Tyrant with the Winged biomorph be affected by the Rune Priest psychic power Jaws of the World Wolf?
HOLDING: Yes, a Winged Hive Tyrant is both a Monstrous Creature and Jump Infantry, so it can be affected by Jaws of the World Wolf.
CAUTIONARY NOTE: This ruling’s citations to Codex: Tyranids refer to the 2004 version of Codex: Tyranids, an obsolete codex.
